Description

Literacy Champion

CP Riverside School, Riverside Way, Nottingham NG2 1DP

Salary: EMET Scale 5 £24,948 - £26,845

CP Riverside School is an Alternative Provision Free School and a proud East Midlands Education Trust member. CP Riverside School is a ‘Good’ school: “There is a strong, shared ambition to provide ‘a mainstream curriculum via an alternative approach’.” (Ofsted, 2022)

We seek to appoint a Literacy Champion who can motivate and inspire students to improve their reading and writing confidence and competency. The successful candidate will work closely with students whose literacy is lower than their expected chronological ability, delivering individualised and small-group interventions.

This position would suit an experienced support staff member looking to enter or continue their work in the exciting and rewarding alternative education sector.

You must be a resilient individual committed to positively impacting the lives of young people. You will educate and support students with various special educational needs, including ADHD, ASC and SEMH and students who have been unsuccessful within mainstream schools for various reasons. Therefore, we require all staff members to build healthy relationships with young people, understand and employ restorative practice principles and commit to ongoing professional development.

In return, all staff members receive free access to our SAS Wellbeing support package, protected weekly CPD time, supportive line management practices and opportunities for further professional development through the East Midlands Education Trust Teacher Training Partnership.

A job description & person specification with further information about the role can be downloaded below. An application form can be downloaded by clicking 'Apply Online' above. Applications must be made on an EMET application form. CVs will not be accepted. No agencies.

On the application form, please focus on a detailed 'supporting statement' taking into account the person specification and indicating why you would be the best person for us to recruit to this position.

Please send completed applications forms to recruitment@emet.uk.com

The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post, will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safeguarding checks will be undertaken during the recruitment process and this may include online searches.

We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.
